This slideshow is a simple introduction to atheism as compared to religions in general. When we use the word “religion” we are referring in particular to the three Abrahamic religions which are Christianity, Islam and Judaism. But these comparisons probably apply just as well to Hinduism and Sikhism. In general, monotheistic religions, i.e. those with only one god, are particularly aggressive while polytheistic religions on the other hand, i.e. those having several gods and goddesses, are much less so. Thus, some of the assertions in this slideshow may not apply to certain religions.
Every humanist is an atheist because he or she attaches greatest importance to human beings, over and above any god which, at any rate, does not exist. Thus, atheist humanists use their faculty of reason, freed from any belief, to the best of their abilities, in order to assure their own personal well-being, as well as the well-being of others in their environment.
