The international affiliations of Atheist Freethinkers (LPA-AFT).

Atheist Alliance International (AAI)

Atheist Alliance International was founded in the United States in 1991, initially as Atheist Alliance. It became an explicitly international organization in 2001 and is now a global federation of atheist and freethinking groups and individuals.

In 2010, AAI organized, in conjunction with Humanist Canada, a convention in Montreal with the title Atheists Without Borders. Our organization Atheist Freethinkers grew out of a committee which helped organize the convention.

Among its many activities, Atheist Census is an AAI project. Here in Canada, Atheist Census Canada is an AFT project. Our census is similar to that of AAI but is limited to Canada and accumulates slightly different data. The two censuses are independent of each other, so we encourage you to participate in both.

Atheist Alliance International Condemns Brutal Attack in France, 2015-01-12

The association Atheist Freethinkers (LPA-AFT) was affiliated with the International Association of Free Thought (IAFT) from the IAFT’s foundation in 2011, up until 2018. At its annual general meeting, held on 10^th November 2018, LPA-AFT decided to withdraw from the IAFT.

We are atheists. Critical thought and science lead us to the conclusion that gods, demons, reincarnation, the immortal soul and other supernatural beliefs are childish fictions. We value reason, knowledge and the material, intellectual and moral advancement of humanity. Our philosophy is materialist: there is no soul associated with the body, and as for the mind or intellect it too is material because based on neuronal processes. We are moral beings, constantly evolving and responsible for ourselves, as is the humanity to which we belong. We promote secularism and reject any religious involvement in civil institutions.
